【短信】Kent Nagano がWagner's Ring Cycle を指揮

1951年生まれの Kent Nagano は，そのcareer の初期にBoston Symphony の assistant conductor で小澤と知り合っていますが，その後，取り分けヨーロッパ，カナダで全く自力で道を切り開いて要職を歴任し，とうとうWagner の大曲，Ring Cycle の全曲指揮に，この２月から挑戦しています．

彼は，1978年から28年間バークレー交響楽団の音楽監督（2006年より首席客演指揮者）を務めながら、ハレ管弦楽団やリヨン国立オペラの首席指揮者や音楽監督にも就任，その後はベルリン・ドイツ交響楽団の首席指揮者ならびに芸術監督を務めました．
2006年よりモントリオール交響楽団およびバイエルン国立歌劇場の音楽監督に就任しています．

そのバイエルン国立歌劇場で，General Music Director Kent Nagano will be conducting his first fully staged Ring from the rostrum of the Bavarian State Orchestra.　というのです．

小澤征爾のWagner は，あいつはWagner のOpera を見たことがないのではないか．．．と酷評されて，遂に，オペラ指揮者としてはRing にはまったく手が届かなかったこと，ミネソタ菅が間違えて大植英次を音楽監督に迎えてしまい，それでも，それがステップになって，何とか，北ドイツ放送響のハノーファーのサブ・オーケストラの音楽監督に移り，これも過大評価から大阪フィルの朝比奈隆の後任にまでなり，ワグナーの聖地バイロイトに１回招かれましたが，不評から１回こっきりでその後はまったくお声がかからなかったことを考えると，Kent Nagano の快挙を大いに喜びたいと思います．

From February 2012, the Bavarian State Opera will be staging the "greatest challenge for any opera house" (Nikolaus Bachler) – Richard Wagner's world drama Der Ring des Nibelungen – within just five months. Before the world commemorates the 200th anniversary of the birth of the great composer in 2013, General Director Nikolaus Bachler is shining the spotlight for the rest of the 2011/2012 season clearly on Wagner. The complete tetralogy will be shown in two cycles during the Munich Opera Festival in July 2012 (3-8 July/ 10-15 July) Director Andreas Kriegenburg is responsible for the new production, and General Music Director Kent Nagano will be conducting his first fully staged Ring from the rostrum of the Bavarian State Orchestra.
